Douglas A. Nelson, MD, is a board-certified oncologist and hematologist. After serving as a physician in the US Air Force for 13 years, he now practices at MD Anderson Cancer Center and is an Associate Professor in the Department of General Oncology. In addition to clinical practice, he has been involved in the teaching of residents and fellows and has received several awards for teaching excellence.
Dr. Nelson previously served as Center Medical Director of MD Anderson's regional center in The Woodlands, Texas. He is actively engaged in clinical research and treats a wide variety of malignancies with a current focus on gastrointestinal malignancies.
Dr. Nelson attended the University of California, San Diego for his undergraduate degree. He received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
