Heather Mercer, PsyD, DrPH, currently works at Owens Community College teaching abnormal psychology and lifespan development classes. Previously, Heather worked as a counselor in Detroit for patients experiencing stress, trauma, and mental illness. She was also the program manager for a Native American diabetes program in Southern California, as well as a supervisor for a corporate wellness company where she trained healthcare professionals across the country to provide biometric assessments, health coaching, and wellness programs.
Throughout her career, she has spoken at conferences and seminars, supervised multi-disciplinary teams, managed a grant-funded program, written technical/training manuals, and trained hundreds of healthcare professionals. Her passion is to educate and empower others, providing the necessary information and tools that will elicit positive life choices and improve health outcomes.
Heather received two doctorate degrees, one in public health and the other in psychology, from Loma Linda University in Southern California. She has her undergraduate degree in psychology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She is currently working on her certification for effective online instruction through the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE)
