Jasmine Espy

Documentary filmmaker, non-profit founder, and chronic illness advocate

Multimedia Journalism, Documentary/Filmmaking, Producing, Chronic Illness and health advocate

Jasmine Espy considered her a hope dealer and shame healer. She intends to help others with chronic illnesses create a path toward understanding how to work with shame, guilt, and vulnerability. At 11 years old, Jasmine developed a debilitating chronic skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa that disrupted her life and left her isolated. Because she is familiar with these feelings and has had countless conversations with other patients and advocates who feel the same, she recognizes sharing her story can provide hope amidst the storm. Over the years, she furthered her mission by writing for publications about her experience and joining social media awareness projects, documentary films, photography, and poetry.
