What Is MG217?

MG217 products use either 3% salicylic acid or 3% coal tar as their main ingredient to help ease the symptoms of psoriasis. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent that dissolves the scales or plaques on the skin. Coal tar suppresses the body’s ability to produce skin cells in overabundance.

These medicated lotions or creams apply topically, meaning directly onto the affected area of the skin.

What Other Skin Conditions Can MG217 Treat?

Other than MG217 products that treat psoriasis, there is also a line dedicated to treating eczema. Some of the products that treat either psoriasis or eczema can also treat other skin irritations, such as dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis.

People who use MG217 products for psoriasis can expect some relief from their symptoms because of its ingredients. Research shows that both salicylic acid and coal tar have some efficacy against psoriasis of different kinds, even if their mechanism of action differs.

Knowing Which Product to Choose

Though MG217 products are effective, you'll want to check with your healthcare provider before starting any new treatment. They can tell you which product to go for and how it will work with your current treatments.

Do MG217 Psoriasis Products Work?

Products that contain either coal tar or salicylic acid can work for psoriasis treatment because those ingredients have undergone thorough study. As a first-line option, salicylic acid often works alongside other therapies for psoriasis, such as corticosteroids. Research has shown that salicylic acid can improve the efficacy of steroids.

Coal tar is also an effective ingredient against psoriasis. Research has shown that people using it for their psoriasis saw more extended remission than those who used other topical treatments. Specifically, coal tar has demonstrated that it is as effective as calcipotriol and calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate ointment.
