Paul A. Rufo, MD, MMSc, is an assistant professor of pediatrics and senior investigator at the Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Boston Children's Hospital. He hs been a staff member in the Pediatric Gastroenterology Program at Boston Children's Hospital for the past 25 years.
Dr. Rufo's research interests are centered on the development of new technologies to assist in the diagnosis and interval assessment of children and adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He also has an active interest in quality improvement and is the principal investigator on a number of projects addressing improving patient access and the delivery of cost-effective therapy.
Dr. Rufo has an active research program and has published a number of basic and clinical/translational research manuscripts. He has presented his data at regional, national, and international academic societies.
Dr. Rufo completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard College prior to medical training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He went on to complete his internship and residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. He was a clinical and research fellow in pediatric gastroenterology. He has been the director of the Harvard Medical School Fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition since 2007.
