Portia is a former writer with Verywell. She is a nurse with over a decade of experience in patient education, quality assurance, infection control and prevention, and staff development.

After spending most of her nursing career creating content and solutions for her employers that affected patient outcomes, she pivoted into writing content for health-related brands. 

These days, Portia manages a team of nurse writers who create consumer-friendly health-related content for brands and businesses, including patient education, brochures, blog posts, and flyers. She recently helped create a nationwide survey for nurses. Portia regularly speaks on healthcare content marketing and blogging throughout the United States, and her work has appeared on platforms such as Nurse.org and Trusted Health.



Portia is a licensed practical nurse with certifications in Alzheimer's Disease and Infection Control and Prevention. Recently, she completed an internship with Rachel Pedersen to help health brands expand their digital presence. Portia also holds a certificate in Healthcare Marketing from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. She is enrolled in a Bachelor's Program for Healthcare Administration.
