Robert L. Quigley, MD, DPhil, Professor of Surgery, Senior Vice President and Global Medical Director, Corporate Health Solutions, Intl.SOS Assistance & MedAire, Americas Region, is responsible for leading the delivery of high quality medical assistance, healthcare management and medical transportation services. He is the Executive Chairman of the International Corporate Health Leadership Council (501c 3) as well as the Chairman of the Council for US and Canadian Quality Healthcare Abroad.
Prior to joining International SOS, Dr. Quigley was a board re-certified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon who directed two open heart programs within the Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia where he was a Professor of Surgery at Jefferson Medical College. He is also board re-certified in general surgery and critical care.
Dr. Quigley has authored more than 125 clinical and basic science articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited guest lecturer globally throughout his career. After 25 years in the clinical arena where he pioneered multiple surgical procedures/techniques, he worked as a healthcare consultant, Key Opinion Leader (KOL), offering medical expertise in the medical device and infectious disease spaces. Dr. Quigley is a subject matter expert in aeromedical transportation, international healthcare, duty of care, emotional health, COVID-19, and crisis management.
Dr. Quigley’s opinions on issues pertaining to international events have been featured in the New York Times, USA Today, CNN on-line, Huffington Post, International Travel Insurance Journal, Business Traveler, Mobility Magazine, Time Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post and has also been featured on Al-Jazeera TV, CBC TV, Cheddar TV, CNN TV, CCTV, CNBC, Bloomberg TV, Fox Business TV, CNBC, and NBC Today Show.
Dr. Quigley received his Medical Degree, with distinction, from the University of Toronto, his post graduate training at Duke University Medical Center and completed a Doctorate in Philosophy (D.Phil.) in immunology at the University of Oxford. He is fluent in French and English.
