Everyone deserves fair and equal healthcare. My mission as a health writer is to empower you to take ownership over your health and learn to advocate for the care you deserve.
Teresa Maalouf is a public health professional with six years of experience in the field. Her career began with research in tobacco use and behavior change among parents whose children were hospitalized for a respiratory illness. From there, she transitioned into workplace wellness and served as a health coach and subject matter expert in tobacco treatment. She worked one-on-one with employees to help them make small, incremental changes that would make a big impact on their health. In 2020, she joined a team focused on COVID-19 disease surveillance, collecting epidemiological data that would inform decisions at a higher level. The pandemic response has given her the privilege of working with the community during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
The through-line in all of the work that she has done during her career in education. As a health writer for Verywell, she continues to simplify complex health information and provide education to allow for equitable access to evidence-based information.
Teresa holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Southern Maine - Muskie School of Public Service, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Maine.
